  2. The United States Congress President in 1991 endorsed a set of seven universal ethical principles, known as the Noahide Laws, as the "bedrock of society since the dawn of civilization" and as values "upon which our great nation was founded." Associated with the name of Noah, with whom this moral code was completed, practised by Abraham and reiterated at Sinai, these principles constitute the root ethical code of humanity. At a time of great moral and social drift, when both individuals and legislators seek an objective and universal moral compass, these timeless laws have a special relevance and a unifying resonance over different cultures, societies and traditions.

The first part of this book sets out the idea or theory of the Noahide laws - from spiritual, philosophical, psychological, social and political perspectives. Various of its contents have already been before leaders, including international statesmen (whose letters are included here), who have responded with encouragement for their study and dissemination.

The second part of the book presents the concrete conduct or practice of the Noahide laws. This precise task proceeds from extensive research into the Tradition of commentary on the Revelation at Sinai, of which the Noahide laws (already previously the moral covenant of humanity, but which were authoritively restated at Sinai) form a part. The way the Noahide Laws in their detail structure the ethical conduct of the major domains of human existence is set out clearly for the general reader; and with extensive footnotes and references for those seeking further study. 8. A practical and supportive guide to safe dieting, spiced with a touch of humor. Real life situations from the world of a frum woman.

You've attempted a dozen diets or more. You've lost track of how many times you've promised yourself that this time you'll really stick to your goal and lose weight. Over the years, you've shed hundreds of pounds, just to gain them all right back!

How about trying something new for a change? Let go of the diet and start losing weight - once and for all! Here's a little secret: Diets are tough, but losing weight can be much easier than you think!

My approach doesn't require any major lifestyle change or force you to spend your day counting calories. Instead, all I ask is that you leave your battleaxe aside and simply listen to yourself! My approach draws upon the foundations of life coaching and psychodrama, but is presented by someone who always prefers cream cake to lettuce and whose best friend is Chocolate! I oppose starvation rations and engaging in constant battle against the enemy called Food, and I equally respect your desire to eat and your desire to lose weight and will prove to you that these two conflicting interests can coexist peacefully.

This book, based on the weight-loss courses that I lead, is presented in a colorful, amusing and experiential comic format. Spiced with a good dose of humor and several grains of salt, it analyzes typical scenarios taken from our world: The Woman's World.

Over the years, hundreds of course participants and alumnae have learned to really listen to themselves. Best of all, they have lost considerable amounts of weight and managed to maintain their new weight long-term, regardless of what was happening in their lives.

So why not give yourself the chance? You've got nothing to lose, except your weight! Learn More

  9. What is potential? How does it begin?

Most importantly, how do we fulfill our potential?

Unlike a skill that needs to be learned, potential already lies within each of us. It is waiting to be brought to the forefront. Thankfully, we are not directionless in this most central of life's challenges. Judaism (and each of the holidays, in particular) offers us some of the greatest guidance possible on how to 'actualize' ourselves.

In this crucial task, we do not focus on what we have done. We focus on who we are meant to become.

Jonah S.C. Muskat-Brown (M.SW) masterfully helps each of us unlock our potential to be happy, fulfilled, and connected. Learn More

  10. Teshuvah Through Recovery, Experience the transformative power of the twelve steps
    Confused.

    Desperate.

    Trapped, with no way out.

HEAR THE VOICES OF THOSE MOST VULNERABLE: Those addicted to alcohol, drugs, gambling, exposure to inappropriate material, and other destructive plagues of our times. Promising yeshivah bachurim, kollel yungeleit—no group is immune to the devastation of these dangers. Spouses and parents watch helplessly as their loved ones sink into pain and despair.

In this eye-opening book on teshuvah and recovery, renowned author and psychiatrist Rabbi Abraham J. Twerski offers his wise insights into the psychological and spiritual aspects of addiction and the benefits of joining a twelve-step program. Included are inspiring personal accounts of those who have descended to the lowest recesses, yet emerged triumphant from the depths of darkness.

Addressing the common questions addicts—and their families—ask, Rabbi Twerski challenges our thought processes and debunks the myths about addiction in the frum community. He tackles such topics as why this scourge is so widespread today, why the Twelve Steps are effective in addressing this problem, and where to turn for those desperately needed answers.
