Excuse me, are you Jewish?

Two yeshivah students found themselves in the outback area of Queensland, Australia. They had been part of a team of young men who drove the Chabad mitzvah mobiles for weeks in the summer to outlying areas. Evidently they had taken a wrong turn and ended up far away from their intended destination. A man, surprised to see yeshivah students in this remote area, asked: "What are two nice Jewish boys doing here?" ''Actually,'' one of them replied, "we were asking ourselves the same question. But now that we have met you, we know exactly why we're here. Excuse me, are you Jewish? Would you like to put on teftllin?"

From Anchorage, Alaska, to Surfers Paradise, Australia; from Novosibirsk, Siberia, to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; from Kinshasa, Congo, to Beijing, China, and everywhere in between, you'll find Chabad representatives. In candid-camera snapshots of how these men, women, and children live their lives of mission, Malka Touger tells more than a hundred stories which enable us to appreciate the unseen hand of Divine Providence, how the hearts of Jews are alive and seek to identify with their heritage, and how each one of us, if we just set ourselves to the task, can bring about miracles in microcosm.
