To Touch The Divine

A Jewish Mysticism Primer

A symposium on Jewish mysticism held in 1981 by the Lubavitch Foundation of Great Britain provided the framework for this series of talks. The resulting essays are unlike academic treatments of Jewish mysticism, in which study is divorced from the life-giving tradition from which it springs. Addressed to a diverse audience, they deal with the difference between mysticism and mystical experience, between Jewish and other forms of mysticism, meditation, cults, Kabbalah, and concepts of the Tanya as expressed in contemporary idiom. Includes an introductory letter by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, informative notes, and a glossary.
